Kira Jane was born in Houston, Tx where she currently lives and works. She received her AA in Digital Imaging from Lee College and acquired her BFA in Studio Art from Sam Houston State University in 2018. She often sources from found media to collage graphic and digital works through various media, mixing traditional and contemporary printing, painting, and drawing techniques. Kira Jane’s work has shown at her solo exhibitions Keep the Streak Alive and No Time Like the Present, as well as in various group shows around Texas galleries such as the SHSU Satellite Galleries, the Gaddis Geeslin Gallery, and the Lawndale Art Center.
I seek an intersection of pop culture and identity as it exists in an era of rapid social change and technological advancement. Influenced by the proliferation of digital entertainment from an early age, I implement both physical and digital processes of dissection and collage to facilitate a stronger, visual language. Much like the process of developing within a hyper-consumerist, post-internet social structure, my work attempts to form an understanding of both self and cultural identity.
